Short-term stints overseas

Anyone done any weird or whacky jobs overseas to make some fast cash? My husband worked on an oil rig while at uni and I worked in a bar in Tokyo. Would like to hear some others...

Sign up for a Phase 3 medical research course, typically in the US. One firm is Pharmaco. You get to spend weekends and the odd day in a closed dorm with about 20 other people, with nothing to do all day but play pool, read and talk, eat the free food, and (bad bit) have the odd injection and regular blood samples taken.

The money is good ($100 a day ten years ago) and you don't need a work permit. It's enough to live on, often in university cities.
