I want to be entertained by entertainers, not laugh, cringe and despair at wannabees, Z listers and no-hopers.
I don't want to watch people of low intelligence, low aspirations air their very dirty laundry in front of a very smug Jeremy Kyle.
I don't want to see Joe Public humiliated on tv to line Simon Cowell's pocket.
I don't want to watch attention seeking strangers locked up in a house 24/7. Brilliant concept, rotten show.
I don't want to watch grovelling chat shows with guests who have a book, show, record, film to sell.
I don't want endless repeats. I bit of nostalgia is nice, but I don't want to live the life of a groundhog.
I don't want to be treated like an imbecile in what should be informative programmes. Martin Lewis's new show treats its viewers as five year olds, for example.
It is cheap tv - cheap to produce and cheapens the idea of entertainment.
I want drama, sitcoms, professional variety shows, old fashioned light entertainment, gritty and thought provoking documentaries and debates.
Having said that, I do love Strictly Come Dancing. The glamour of the dancing and the very real struggle of some of the contestants to master the basics of the dance. It has an old fashioned flavour and there isn't the humiliation of the public as in the X Factor.
People are spending more money than ever on tv and televisions are bigger than ever - hd, 3d, Sky, Virgin, premium channels and we are getting rubbish programmes!
Sorry for the rant. What do you want to see on tv?
And I forgot to mention the endless antique, cookery, home buyer/design/makeover/build shows.
One programme is a hit, for example Antiques Roadshow, and it breeds countless inferior shows and every channel is jumping on the bandwagon.
I do agree, although there have been a few good dramas on recently.
Did you catch 'Mrs Biggs'? Or 'Leaving'? Both on ITV.
There was another really good one, though I can't remember the exact name of it. A Mothers Love, or something like that.
They are, Jeza. Even worse they assume you have the attention span of a goldfish, so recap after ever advert break. You can watch an hour show in thirty minutes by scooting through the ads, recaps and coming ups.
TV is getting worse and worse - just had to 'endure' X factor ( OH and son love it) what an insult to the intelligence - but saw Strictly for the first time ever on Sat and quite enjoyed it so may watch it next week. I record a hand full of programmes during the week but winter throws challenges of what to watch when it gets dark at 6pm. I LOVE radio 4 -the plays are fantastic -think I'll be listening to radio 4 a lot this winter. think this maybe an age thing - in the good old days we only had three channels but the stuff on there was worth watching!
Mrs Biggs was absolutely fantastic! Leaving was also very good, although I was bitterly disappointed with the ending.
I thought it was a weekly thing, the ITV dramas, as they seemed to follow one after the other, but I haven't seen anything since that's caught my eye.
Those Sunday teatime family dramas were very enjoyable such as The Phoenix and The Carpet, The Borrowers, Stig of the Dump and a wonderful one about time travel featuring a mad homeless woman and her shopping trolley.
More of those, please!
Who, truly, cares how much a house sold for in auction unless they are buying or selling that house.
Unbelievable they've made many tv series out of the format.
I really like it. I record it every single morning, and then watch them at night. I currently have 33 episodes to get through! You're more than welcome to join me... lol :-D
Seriously though, it is interesting. I like seeing the end 'project'. That and the fact Martin Roberts is absolutely bonkers!
