I have applied for a job. They require a reference from my current employer and one from my previous employer. They say it can't be a blood relative or a friend.

My current employer is my cousin and my previous employer was my Mum! What do I do??

Thank you xx

You cannot change your relationships with members of your family so the only thing you can do is to tell your prospective employer the truth upfront. At least that way they know in advance and if they want to employ you can decide if their rules on references will be upheld in your case.

Tell them you were employed in the family business.

Sorry, should have added, I worked with my Mum since 2005 until my ankle accident in 2012.

Thank you x
Well all you can do is tell them.

The problem is, it's an online form. They want names and contact details only. I would probably just have to put them down and hope for the best!

Thanks, I had thought of that. It's for British Airways and trying to contact someone is a nightmare! I will keep looking through all the stuff they sent me and hope I can find a phone number or email address.

Thanks for your help :)
Good luck with the job voddy.

Thanks Tony. :) x
Do you not have to provide a cover letter as well. If so you can explain the situation in that.
