What sort of experience/qualifications do you need to be a key cutting geezer? it seems a pleasant sort of job...better than what I do, any way!

I've no idea but I'd suggest:

  • go into a key cutting shop and ask!
  • go into a key shop and ask for a job, even if it's only at weekends to begin with. You'll learn on the job for free and if you're any good they will give you a fulltime job eventually, or you go another shop and say you've got experience
  • think big - when you've got some experience, look to set up your own store, either alone or with a mate who has a related set of skills. Research the competition and don't take them headon, as they're established and you're not: you need something distinctive, even if it's just a great personality and customer service, or a location inside a supermarket. You'll also need some starting capital - try a bank or the local jobs centre, who can put you on to cheap startup loans and free advice.
  • Good luck!
