How does it work?
They turn down offer from the dealer & go to auction...
Is it same day? Ive noticed sometimes they "were not able to make it to auction" but whoever does is usually in the same clothes?
Surley if it was same day there wouldnt b time to create interest!!
I should be sleeping for nightshift and not watching blinkin daytime TV but this just boggled my mind x

Dicko who has done time for fraud, has an auctioneer in the background.
Dicko's frenz then bid for the item and have to make a profit
but remember a seller at auction is going to pay seller's premium.
The auction - is a few weeks later at the auctioneers auction house
For the North West it is Maxwell's in Manchester.
The three or four items are in a general sale and can be identified as most lots are without reserve and Dicko's lots are.
The auction is a chaotic as it is on tee vee - Dicko has a space at the back and speaks in a normal voice whilst the lot is being sold
The voice over for the mystery objaaaaay is done once, six, or ten times with different lots, with lots of takes.
so it is all a bit of an auction zoo really

Seeing there are often internet or phone bids on the more sought after items, the auction must be held a month or more after the program to enable advertising the items.
Eventhough it is very much a staged show, I still enjoy watching the dealers trying it on with the people and their unusual dress and and grooming.
A funny lot, those antique dealers.
