Employment Appeal Representative
My daughters employer, is hearing her appeal against her dismissal later on today.
He said in his letter she may bring a representative.
The first letter instructing her to attend an enquiry meeting specified a trade union representative, or work colleague, but this second letter does not specify.
Therfore, could I represent my daughter?
Could the employer object?

Employers probably appreciate dealing with a Union official because they 'lnow the score' and don't need to have every step of the procedure explained to them.
A work colleague would understand the work-procedure stuff but, when it comes to tribunal procedures would be an amateur union rep and first-timer, to boot.
"A representative" is an open invite to bring just about anyone they like, to support them. The family solicitor might have a certain level of expertise but I gather they don't offer their services cheaply.
