As far as I know you do not qualify for statutory sick pay as this is paid for by your employer. I can't imagine why you'd want a sick note from your GP as this is only useful to claim SSP or sickness benefit if you are working.
DLA no longer exists for new claimants over the age of 16. Instead you should be looking at this:

Note the age restrictions. Hopefully you will be able bodied for many years to come but if you need to claim for PIP you must be 64 and under.
Once you are 65 or over you would need to claim Attendance Allowance:

As far as I know there is no savings restrictions on either benefits.
