Education In England Age
8 Answers
Im currently 16 and living in Portugal. In terms of education im right now in year 9 but was supposed to be in year 11 since i lost two years. I used to live in london two years a go, i left school and came to portugal in the middle of my year 10. Im thinking of going back to london with my parents since they found some work for me. Im not looking forward to taking any kind of education or school at the moment, but the question is, im i obligated to go to school at the age of 16 at the moment? If i happen to go there will they force me to go at this age? Can i just work full time, or part time and take a course of any kind of training without going to actual school ? Im currently 16 and turning 17 in march of 2014. Is there any way of leaving education or im i obligated ? What other choices do i happen to have if i dont want to continue in school?
Thanks :)
Thanks :)

I don't think you'll be forced to. You're in between my oldest two, so I'm not completely sure. My oldest (18 this school year) could have left at 16. My daughter (16 this school year) can leave at 17 and my other daughter (15 this school year) has to stay in education until 18. It doesn't have to be a school, anyway, but a government approved educational course.

Im Actually supposed to be in year 11. In portugal school doesn't depend on age like in england. It's always a year back here, so a person in year 11 goes to year 10 in Portugal.
Attending collage i will be need gsce or any kind of school degree to enter ? What about training course do i need any degrees os gsce as well ?

There are many types of training course's some need entry qualifications and some you can just go straight in to. Can not say more without knowing where you want to go and what you are interested in.
Just one thing you should know, jobs are very hard to find here now especially for school leavers with no formal qualifications.
