A lot of people think LinkedIn is a very useful site for professional connections - I don't see why not.

Write it as a strength not a weakness. focused short term contracts to achieve a specific business objective \ goal.

Yes, exactly- you're flexible, learn quickly and not afraid to try something new. Short -term and temping will be temporary. That's not a weakness.
