Has anyone got any experience of hiring a 14 year old to babysit? My daughter (14) is keen to put an ad about in the village and I wondered the going rate, should she have any training etc. Thanks!

I thought that these days you could only accept money for babysitting if you were a qualified child minder.

Personally I would think that a 14 year old would be mature enough to handle a crisis situation.
I would'nt think *
My babysitter was babysitting for me at the age of 14. She was a very close family friend though so knew my kids very well.

My daughter was also babysitting at that age.

Ratter...I think being registered is only when it comes to claiming child care fees from working tax credits.
I stand corrected. thank you ummmm.

Thankyou for your answers - I would agree Ratter15 I am sure she is old enough. I am not sure doing a babysitting course is something people prefer these days ? Seems hard to find anything locally; I think Ill just get her to put an ad out and see what happens.
