An Update On Our Predicament.

Ok, so things haven't changed much really since I last spoke about it. The eviction date of March 20th has now been set at May 6th, that gives us a little more breathing space.
We have seen a bungalow that we like and that has a fairly large garden for the hounds to run in. it is situated in a little quiet lane/cul de sac in a tiny little village about 10 miles from where we are now. We dont know if we can have the bungalow as there are others also interested in it and the fact that we have four dogs does not go in our favour. Most properties wont allow dogs at all.
We are being represented and advised by "Shelter Cymru" their legal team are brilliant and are being very helpful.
Our Landlady, we have just found out has pulled the same stunt on other tenants of this farm. She does it apparently to avoid doing all the maintenance on the property. She lets the farm for a lot of money and then once the tenants start pushing for certain maintenance to be carried out she gets them evicted. She does this by holding back and not giving a contract to the tenants, then when there is an issue she informs her mortgage lenders of the fact that she has tenants on the farm, she is not permitted to let the farm and in that situation the lenders have the right to evict the tenants as they have no contract with the lenders and virtually no rights as they are the only people that can issue the tenants with a contract.
Well we arent taking this laying down, we have had environmental health and the Council Housing Department up here and they can put rules and regulations in place that will hopefully stop her doing this to anybody else. She may also be prosecuted.
So we still have no where to go yet, we think we possibly have a field and a barn to rent to put the animals in for a few months so that is a bit of a relief.
I know we will come through all this but it all seems so unjust, the last people she had evicted also live near by, they had to be given a Council House as they also lost everything.
My good lady Carakeel has taken it all quite hard and her health (not great anyway) has taken a bit of a knocking but she is Ok and still being positive.

Was she still accepting rent from you after the contract expired and she refused to renew. I don't know the laws In UK as I live in Zimbabwe but I had an issue here when I was renting a place and the fact that they accepted the rent implied a lease and I sat for three years (paying the rent of course) until I built my own place.
I do hope you get sorted soon

Whilst making enquiries for somewhere to live we have discovered some of the reasons that she doesn't get any maintenance work done, mostly because she is probably the most hated person in the area and nobody will work for her as she doesn't pay her bills. She cant even buy her animal feeds in the local area as all the suppliers are owed money by her. She really is a nightmare! yet to meet her and to chat to her you would think she was the most popular woman in town, very cheerful and charismatic, how easily we can be fooled!
As we've been following your turn of events Ratter I think everyone on here is wishing that they had a secret stash of money to give you to help, and also wishing that this awful woman gets her come uppance. I truly hope you find a place soon for both of you and your animals. Surely there must be a silver lining coming for you soon.
Keep positive and I bet something will turn up when you least expect it.
All the very best wishes, Pea xxx
