Have just received a phone call (in English) from david from windows computer,(?) which sounded dodgy to me so I just said no thank you and hung up. Would this have been a genuine call, I have a Sony Vaio but cannot imagine them calling like that. But am worrying it was something genuine. What do other think?? If it was dodgy will just hanging up end the call??
Nothing would have happened if you had talked to him. They try to tell you that there is a problem with your computer and ask you to turn it on and allow them access to it to fix the problem. You didn't do that, so you don't need to worry. Next time tell them you don't have a computer.
It's thanks to people on here that I was aware, but I would never ever give out c/card details to anyone. I was suspicious in the first place because he spoke in English, wonder how he knew I was English?
A friend of mine was getting nuisance phone calls of a sexual nature & finding it difficult to stop ( apart from going into the messy business of changing your phone number) so she got hold of a very loud & piercing whistle which she kept near to the phone, believe me a few blasts with that down the phone line & they soon stopped.
I used to do that whiskeyron when kids were mucking about, yes indeed a good blast from a whistle soon stopped it, the trouble is I can't blow one everytime the phone rings, even though I caller ID there's lots o calls we need and I do not know the number!
I had this call (from "David" also). I told him I didn`t have a computer and he said, "Madam I think you are lying". I put the reciever down without another word.
