Arrogant boss
Hi!
I started a new job a few weeks back for quite an arrogant person. I'll call her Anne.
Just typing from my word processor, making appointments, etc. Then late on Friday Anne says to me: here is my laptop and I have put new software on your computer, so you can get on with it. I will be away for two weeks.
I have never used a laptop and wouldn't have a clue how to set it up even. As to the software I opened it up and looked at it and ran off the help topics, but it seems so complicated. I feel I will never master it without some training.
I asked the lady who comes in to do training and check the computers for help but she said leave it until Anne gets back and she should show me!!
When I haven't any work from Anne I just go back to helping out others with their tapes so I haven't been short of work to do.
If I try to use the new software, which only she knows how to use, it will slow me up and she will be even more unbearable to work for. I thought about saying I have looked at the software and would prefer to put it on hold to see if I can settle into the job first. What do you think?
It all sounds so silly reading it back but I can't help fretting about it. I have already started looking for something else as I dread going in but it's not so easy nowadays.
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

maybe she is not so arrogant as you pictured her to be?What if she thinks you are an intelligent person capable of accepting challenges?
If she is really that arrogant and it is impossible to learn the programmes leave it until her return and just simply say that there is no point in barging an open door!
Ask her if she could show you how o do things.
After all we are all humans ans she should understand.if not that is her problem, not yours!
