Does anyone else have a local bobby who patrols on horse back?

I had no idea that a neighbouring village had a mounted bobby!

I see the police out on horses quite often in Glasgow, especially when football is on.
See them occasionally.
Used to see them regularly in Aylesbury.

For events like that I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

This was just the local bobby doing her rounds.....but on horseback! I've never come across it before and was curious if other areas had them.
We never see a policeman on foot let alone on a horse!
Some of the police in Milton Keynes used to get around on mopeds, always tickled me -would have been quicker to walk.
There used to be a mounted policewo/man who patrolled Beachy Head, supposedly to deter suicidal people. I think s/he was withdrawn in the sixties.
There are now mounted police in Milton Keynes. They always seem to hang around the train station.

I think I would have to disguise a snigger if I encountered a policeman on a moped :-)
never seen a policeman where we live
they're on them 'segways', or whatever they're called, in some places, I believe.
I have seen them occasionally here in Milton Keynes.
they're called warders, Bernie. ;)
I live near a park so we do see quite a few patrolling on foot.
we have a neighbour hood unit across the street, rarely see anyone there
but not seen a mounted bobby outside of an event
It's the only form of police transport in Norfolk:-)
are you sure she's a Police woman? Riders are now wearing hi-viz jackets with 'Polite' written on them to try and slow down passing traffic -they look like police from a distance
