Borrowing A Friend's Husband

There's been a lot of stuff in the papers about Mariella Frostup "borrowing" her friend Penny Smith's husband to go on holiday with her as her own husband couldn't go owing to work commitments at the last minute.

Would you "borrow" your friend's husband/wife if your own couldn't go with you? On the other side, would you be happy for your OH to go away with your friend?

Personally, I'd be a bit miffed that she didn't ask me to go with her. Or another friend, sister, someone, while I was left to do all the boring home and work stuff on my own while OH was away.

I don't know about Mariella's case but personally no I wouldn't and I certainly wouldn't want my husband being borrowed.

I'm going to sound like sqad but people can get carried away in unusual and relaxed surroundings - doing things they'd never dream of at home.

I agree with Cloverjo and Prudie..........the excitement of an elicit relationship is that it is underhand, forbidden and....new.

if there was an agreement, then no, all the fun would be gone.

I am not into platonic heterosexual relationships.

It always seem a shame that men don't like heterosexual platonic relationships .... but that's the way it goes, it seems. I lost a really good male friend, due to me saying can't we just be platonic. No. He said.

An x friend used to drive to Italy for a local Haulier, His wife was a stunner but also very trusting, her sister was also a stunner and not married but fancied my Ex mate, his wife knew that, the husband asked his wife was it ok for her sister to go with him on this trip ( A week) his wife said yes, Unit ( Lorry) had 2 bunks, I will let you draw your own conclusions on this!

I don't the husbands of any of my friends and my OH knows this too much to lose - like everything if I ever found out of any transgressions. he wouldn't be able to hide anything as he's not devious enough.

Has Mariella Frostrup no female friends? Penny Smith must be either thick or have an Italian waiter ready to keep her bed warm while hubbies' having a good 'share' with Mariella. To answer the question, no I wouldn't borrow a husband and mine wouldn't even think of asking if he could borrow someones wife -think its all a bit unbelievable really

I have just found out that the bloke in question is NOT Penny Smith's husband, just her boyfriend.

The term 'borrowing a friend's Husband' is used in a slightly salacious way hinting that naughties were going on, whereas in reality she wanted someone to drive the boat and carry her bags!

I would trust no woman with my husband -I trust him to say no and tell me (its happened). I had one 'friend' who I got chatting to at the school gates years ago,like you do, telling how OH is sometimes unreasonable etc. She encouraged me to leave him , said I could do better . We were both invited to a party at hers and later in the evening OH tells me she's tried it on outside while he was having a smoke, telling him I was sick of him, thinking of leaving him and a man like him should have a real woman like her and anytime he felt like it he could have it!
