How on earth were Office Parties ever organised before we had "Diversity Managers". Just shows where cuts need to be made in the NHS. Bet she walks around all day at the hospital with a clip-board.

That said, my own Trust does have a 'Carbon Officer'!

Ignoring the usual hysterical tone adopted by the Daily Hate, the guidelines actually sound like common sense in the modern workplace. Look, it's either an event connected with work, or it ain't. If the former, it's got to be in step with the rules that run the organisation.
I'm happy to know the NHS isn't condoning wild behaviour. I'm recalling town hall departments I've worked in over the years - dreadful drunken behaviour, which also led to inappropriate behaviour - 'all part of the fun'....er, not really.

///1. Employees are reminded: ‘It is important to enjoy yourself, but the Trust’s Dignity At Work Policy should be observed.’ Organisers should remember that not all staff celebrate Christmas, so it is vital to make sure parties don’t clash with other, non-Christian religious festivals///
Doh, the clue is in the title. If you don't want to celebrate Christmas, don't. It's not compulsory.
///2. ‘There could be the potential for claims for sex discrimination.’ Women with ‘caring responsibilities’ should not be excluded. Nor should any staff currently on maternity or paternity leave.///
Men obviously don't have 'caring responsibilities' in 'Bab's world'. However if you choose to have children don't expect the rest of the world to revolve around your choices.
///3. Agency workers should also have access to the party///
Who's stopping them, you silly old bat? Could go on but I'm fed up. However;
///10. Emergency numbers are listed for three companies providing interpreting services, plus an out-of-hours contact for an organisation specialising in sign language and lip-reading for the deaf///

Svejk - workplace politics are rife with cliques and many times I've seen people excluded or cold-shouldered on 'works' occasions because they are from ' a branch' or 'supply staff' ie agency workers. Huge numbers of agency staff are used all over the place now -easier to hire n fire. I think it's good to see it stated in black and white they they are to be considered.
