Redundancy Compensation

Friend of mine got made redundant.He wants to go to Tribunal .An advisor has told him any possible compensation he would get would be the same as his redundancy payout.Is this correct ?
ACAS told him he could apply for hurt feelings on vento scale but advisor says this would not be case.(ACAS have not advised , guided him on the redundancy comp at all)
Please note question is strictly about any possible financial compensation and not about the hows/whys /whats of the case.Thank You

He could try the Citizens Advice Bureau. But he could cut his losses, and just take the money and run. These tribunals can take ages, and the anxiety and "putting your life on hold" isn't worth it.

Depends what that money figure/calculations are

It depends on what the redundancy scheme is and how confident he is of his case- and how prepared he is to lose a large amount

Read link to work out your rights & pay out. If you feel hard done by, you can take the business to a tribunal for a better settlement. N.b. some businesses offer extra to avoid time & exes of tribunals.

Who is his 'advisor' please, kenjonbro?
And to answer I think we'd also need to know the basis on which he'd want to go to a tribunal. is he saying he was selected unfairly?

tambourine - the govt link page is offensive vague laughable rubbish .A 5year old would provide better info than that tripe.

I'm not sure we can help then as I think my question was relevant to this and you think the usually excellent gov.uk site is 'tripe' in this area and this adviser seems to dispute ACAS's guidance

It won't be long before govt site will put up rubbish like " Your manager cannot put a gun to your head and force you into redundancy" or " You cannot make inducements and gifts to your manger to save you from redundancy" Or you "cannot state that a Ouija board you used predicted your redundancy" It's all tiresome Daily Mail nonsense
Anyway fiction -you , or I or my friend are not in a position to decide the dynamics of the tribunal.
