You can still claim JSA if you get a job working less than 16hrs a week. And deductions are made for those worked hrs.
My specific question is will the Job Centre push you to get a "proper" job, given that although you are working you are still claiming JSA - and it is their duty to get you off JSA ?

Yes, they want you off JSA completely and into full permanent employment. For the short time I signed on once, I heard people getting quite a hard time.
I've heard they 'keep on' to people on low hour contracts. Surprising really because most? jobs advertised/offered seem to be short hour ones.
Something to do with firms avoiding NI contributions and probably other things.

So basically your're treated the same as any other JSA claimant (although i guess they might give some leeway for that fact that any low hours employment is improving your chances of finding work)
With some exceptions, folk claiming JSA must be available for work of forty hours per week and claimants will be expected to apply for full-time vacancies.
I see from one of your other posts that you want to work less than 16 hours to get Job Seekers Allowance. Part of the deal is that you should be actively looking for work.
