I Am Really Concerned For My Daughters Health....
26 Answers
She is 42yrs old, married with one 5yr old boy, husband works abroad.
Her headaches started on and off about 4/5 months, until it got to the stage where she had them most of the day, everyday.
Her doctor put her on sick leave (she is a health visitor) sent her for x-rays, scans, blood test etc, which all came back clear, so she was given medication for migraines, which had little affect.
In the end I paid for her to see a private neurologist who sent her to a private acupuncturist for treatment.
She has had three sessions, but nothing has changed, except she keeps being told it will take time.
It is all getting to much for her, and apart from looking pale & drawn, she sometimes breaks into tears with the pain.
Any ideas what else I can do for her?

Her scans and tests have all come back clear too. Her doctors have diagnosed migraine and have recommended Botox injections, which she is having. She too has been told it will take time. I'm really sorry I can't be of more help but I thought it might make you feel better to know she's not alone. I wish her well.
\\\sent her for x-rays, scans, blood test etc, which all came back clear,\\
Scans? I presume MRI scans of the brain.
\\\a private neurologist who sent her to a private acupuncturist for treatment.\\
So he thinks that they are psychological.
I am not sure that migraine is in the frame.
" with one 5yr old boy, husband works abroad. "
Not my area of expertise, but this situation needs some consideration....is she depressed?
I would suggest that she goes back to her GP or some medical expert who could examine and discuss he emotional and psychological status.

No Sqad, just in pain & wants to get her life back to normal, but thanks all the same.

acupuncture might help....
most important thing is that the MRI scan is clear
but that of course begs the qeustion - what are they due to then ?

Headaches are strange things - taking painkillers could actually keep a headache going (Rebound headaches ?) and the more stressed out that your daughter gets the more prone to headaches she will be.
She is a health visitor - is she a nurse? If so she should be able to work out if there is a pattern to the headaches. Certain time of the day (or month) or after eating certain foods or after a period of not eating.
It looks like they think that there is a psychological reason for the headaches (which may be the case) but she needs to make sure that there is not a physical problem first. (I know that you know that)

trt, she had an MRI. The Botox injections haven't done much as yet, but the doctors say it takes time. Another suggestion is that it could be hormonal, but she has to wait four months for tests. She isn't depressed either. She's happily married and has two lovely little children - and she just wants to be able to get on with her life. The condition is very debilitating.
