I want to donate a bronze (copper??) music stand to a local charity shop but it needs cleaning first.
It hasn't been cleaned for 30+ years (yes I know!), and I have spent an entire afternoon and a tub of Brasso and not made much impact.
Any other cleaning suggestions?

You'll get loads of suggestions concerning this. I use Simichrome for cleaning antique and vintage clock movements, some of which are really, really dirty when I get them. You almost need sun-glasses when you've finished using it!

I just checked to see if it is available in the UK, and it is: http://simichrome.co.uk/
One can clean silver using aluminium foil and baking soda. I have no idea if it works with other metals. Might be worth a try.
try a tube of Solvoautosol from most garages or motosave;s
That's another excellent product, dustypuss. Great stuff, and a little goes a long way. Both Simichrome and AutoSol suggest applying their product with a cloth; however, I just place a little dab on my finger, and then use my hand to spread it so that it gets into all nooks and crannies.

Thanks to everyone but i think I will go with Danny's suggestion as I already have the 'ingredients' at home.
