Emergency Cash From Bank

Staying is some dodgy Caribbean third world country at the moment. Always hassle with banks here, totally useless.
Do not trust ATMs been screwed by those things before in various countries, in fact one episode recently here where the PW was accepted etc but in the end no money came out- and yes of course the cash was deducted from my account, I saw later. Eventually had money refunded after load of hassle.Banks will always try to make people believe these things can not happen but they do..at least 5 times to me over the years! Especially in countries outside Europe/US.
Another problem, at times card is refused with no apparent reason, leaving me cashless.
So of late been using card over the counter inside bank to get cash advance, which worked fine for a while Then again for no apparent reason card was refused inside bank too. So phoned my bank at home to make sure card was not blocked, but was OK. Tried to get explanation from this local bank why card was refused, but might as well ask the bloody cat
sitting outside!
So question is, should it happen that counter withdraw and ATM refuse card and I`m stuck with no cash, do banks provide some kind of service to send emergency money?

If you're with a decent bank then phone them back and explain and they should help you. Out of interest which Caribbean country is this?

How much are your trying to withdraw? Dominican republic has quite a low daily cash withdrawal limit on their machines compared to USA/Europe. Just had a google and it is 5000 local currency equating to about $150- $200 at the moment.

Whenever I contact my banks to tell them I'm going abroad they recommend I take more than one card with me. It's easy enough to open a second bank account with another bank to give you a choice (it needn't cost anything) and you've always got credit cards to fall back on if desperate.

Yeah I know about the crap cash limits here some ATMs are even worse and give only 3000. and of course they charge fee every time. So just another way to rip people off. To get the amount I wanted it would have cost me $ 20 to 30. guess that's why they are known as Banksters, it really is legalised robbery.
