There's no minimum, depends on the job. Can't think of any reason why a PhD should get more than anybody else.
Gef is kind of right - the minimum wage would be 5.05 per hour whether you hold a PhD, or whether you failed all your GCSEs.  This is because in this country the qualification PhD gives you no rights or entitlements (other than to use the title Dr.) - this is not always the case around the world, for example in Germany, tertiary level qualifications typically give professional entitlements, which will therefore entitle the holder to a higher salary within their profession.  It does take them about 20 years to qualify though!!
If you have a Chemistry degree and a PhD too, then a good option would be to work in a pharmaceutical company.  In a Pharma company, a PhD makes ALL the difference!  In a big company you will earn a starting salary of between 30,000 - 34,000....
Depends on the position. Some examples are as follows:
Research Scientist £13,789 - £53,829
Research Chemist £27,620 - £33,418
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) £60,256 - £127,171
Chemist £23,275 - £32,000
