Oh In The Wars Again.

He had his cataract op today. His appointment was for 10.00 am. He was told 2 hour wait. At the end of 2 hours he was told another hour wait. At that point I was told to go to relatives room as all seats would be taken up. (No-one else came in). After about 90 minutes I wandered back to where he had been to find he was there. He told me he was in the theatre for more than a hour when we were told only 20 minutes. Nurse tells us he can go home when he gets his medication. After 10 minutes I ask about it, to be told another hour! Then a doctor comes and says we have to come back tomorrow morning as there was a problem. A tear occurred during the procedure, so they need to check pressure tomorrow. Eventually leave with 3 lots of drops to be taken multiple times over the next seven weeks, I had to create a spreadsheet to keep control over it.
It was a really long day, setting off at 8.45 this morning and getting home at 4.30 this evening.
He is in a lot of pain and some of the drops really sting but we will get there.

It is standard procedure to have to go back the next for a checkup, When I had mine done at the Manchester Eye Hosp last year there were eight of us done that afternoon and we all met up again next morning for our checkups. Have to agree that the first lot of eye drops the next morning hurt quite a bit but after that they were ok. Did not go as far as making a spreadsheet just set up alarms on my mobile phone. I only had to take some of the drops for three weeks because mine healed well but have been on the steroid drops since albeit only once a day now. Go back on the 9th Feb for my other eye to be done. Last one only took 20 mins so hoping this one is about the same. Mr BD was allowed to stay with me all the time and we even got a brew and a sandwich given o us before we left for home.
