Are they really much "sought after" as they seem?

It is a funky, young, fashionable place to be, and it has all those great talk/book signings by authors. My friend used to be the person who organised the events in the Brighton branch. It was a very cool job, and a lot of people went for it. She had a degree in librarian stuff and IT, so was easily qualified. I just think people would prefer to work there than Boots or Debenhams.
i used to have a Sunday job in Books etc & they got taken over by Borders when I was there. It was a lovely job, wandering around, filling the shelves, flicking through books and chatting to staff/customers and books, and cheap books too! But I don't think full time it would have been that different to any other retail job - perhaps a little too quiet? My next job was in a record shop - very different!
