Disciplinary Meeting

Recently I’ve not had the best of times in my work by my own admission, I’ve not performed that well in two projects and I also missed a target which wasn’t entirely my fault but it looked that way.
My manager arranged a meeting which she and an HR girl attended. I was told that I could have a representative in attendance but I didn’t feel that was necessary so I didn’t and it wasn't a problem.
At the meeting the incidents were discussed and then my manager informed that me that she would meet with the HR girl and discuss the available options which could include advisory or possibly disciplinary action.
My manager has now informed me that I will need to attend a further meeting which will be attended by the HR girl and a secretary to minute the meeting and I can also have a representative in attendance.
Does this sound like at the meeting with HR she has been advised to discipline me? If so what happens at a disciplinary meeting?

I do perhaps feel a little bit of resentment towards the HR adviser, as my manager told me that she had initially just intended this to be an advisory procedure to give me encouragement to improve. But then she takes a young girls advice and instead decides to discipline me.
I'm not well up with the role of an HR adviser, but I would guess that making a manager fully aware and possibly influencing their decision may be part of their duty on advisory/disciplinary matters?

I have given some careful thought to the comment about possibly feeling some resentment to the young female HR adviser who attended the discipline meetings.
To answer honestly, I would have to say yes I somehow do feel some resentment, I hadn't met her before and I am sure she will be well qualified as an HR adviser.
My manager is also female and younger than me and the fact that I've been disciplined by two female members of staff who are younger than me shouldn't really make any difference, but I have to admit that I have found it hard to take.

the law demands that one side knows it is being recorded
and one side does
the employment contract may forbid it but then it should be in the contract.
the secretary will be taking notes but you/one doesnt know what rules she will be using to make the notes ( like everything that is damaging is recorded and everything exculpatory is omitted)
there is case law on this and the judge basically said it was no different to s/o taking dictation notes
one naughty litigant left the machine ON whilst he left the room - clearly there was no consent for that one - as he wasnt there

I have seen reactions of resentment in male colleagues when they are criticised or like in this case, had to take discipline, from a female member of staff.
Female staff seem able to take and accept criticism from both men and women in the workplace, but some men seem to have real difficulty dealing with this situation. I’ve seen it cause all sorts of bad feeling in the work environment when it really should not.
Today the workplace is full of women who are in positions of authority and who have male staff working for them, criticism and discipline matters are part of their job role and men should be above this but it seems some are not.
This type of situation may be more common than is realised, has anyone else experienced this?
