Heard an awful story this week about a young girl who was bullied at school .The young lady now in her twenties still has very serious problems with depression and is on medication .Dont know the girl who did the bullying or anything about her . Say it transpired one or both of her parents were bullies and it passed on to her.when and if she has a family should schools work places be notified that these children's mothers was a bully and it's possible it could be handed on so be aware and look out for signs . If in some way this could help stop a child's life being made a misery would it be worth trying in some way .I imagine this would be deemed as encroaching on others rights ,but to think of the terrible place this young lady is in makes its a case of something has to be done .Lives are already being lost through bullying .

Don't know how that would be policed in reality.
I was bullied at school, some of those bullies went on to die young. They had their own issues to deal with. Its a complex issue.

There was one lad in my junior school who took to picking on me every chance he could which culminated in a fight, I ended up totally destroying him and left him with a bloody face and bruised ego. Years later we ended up having a drink together and I learnt that at the time he had lost his mother and his dad left him to start a new life in America. There always more to the story.
I don't quite follow, are you saying children of bullies are more likely to be bullied at school? That doesn't seem to be particularly likely. As Nailit says there are often underlying reasons why children bully others, having the strength to give them a bloody nose back can put a stop to it although I don't suppose it's the right answer.
Evening weecalf,
Bullying is, sadly, an every day occurrence, at not just schools but colleges, universities, work environments and many more....If in your hypothetical scenario that one or both of the parents of the child bully was also bullying, when younger, does that necessarily mean that the child will become one as well? It doesn't.
If you were to notify authorities what you mention, what are they going to do about it?
Probably not alot.
Saw a lot of bullying at most schools I went too
when a child, never really bullied myself apart from first week there, when getting 'summed up' whether I would take it or not. And because the bullies knew, first hand, I would fight hammer and tongs with them, and not be placid and quiet when challenged, so I was left alone in my many school years.
Some mates and I used to protect some vulnerable and quiet pupils, and have a 'discreet word' with the bully to leave them alone....or else!.....one fight was all it would sometimes take for you to be left alone.
It is appalling that the young girl, you heard about, was bullied so badly it left her with serious problems in her life now, and is on medication.
Hope she gets over it.
What must be done, and is being rolled out, in schools in my area, at least, and probably throughout the country, is, any type of bullying will just not be tolerated....at all.
Headmasters/Headmistresses/School Authorities deal with it very seriously here in the South, leading up to expulsion if needed....
We have four children, youngest now 16 and moved onto College, but all of them schooled in Sussex, and none of them were bullied at school.....the Authority takes it very seriously.
If you're being bullied wherever, please let the appropriate person or authority know about it as soon as possible....so the bullies can be stopped.

don't get me started on telling the school.
local primary school were utterly hopeless when it came to the younger alba being bullied.
'He's a victim of aggressive behaviour'
errr, I BEG your pardon?
light blue touch paper and retire.
the brother of the bully was a mate of their older cousin, so it got sorted out of school

Yeah agree it probably would not work but just feel if in any way it could help another child .Im not suggesting all bullies children will bully by no means not ,but if the parents carried this mentality into there later life they could be showing a bad example to the children who may respond by taking it out on other children . Luckily as far as I remember I was not bullied in my school days but it's so sad for the child who is .
