Just watching the box set of Extras - I did watch it at transmission time.

What an absolutely fabulous piece of work this is!

It manages to create stand-alone episodes involving famous actors thoroughly enjoying themselves, and also weave a narrative across three series that is full of feeling and pathos, and shows the vulnerability of being 'famous' and how to be careful what you wish for.

If I had written this, I would die a happy man - but they wrote The Office first!!!

Genius is an over-used word, but that is what Gervais and Merchant are here.

The racism episode of Extras (with Samuel Jackson) is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on British television.

However, you should look for the outtakes on YouTube.

Look for the sequence where Ricky Gervais can't keep a straight face when he's filming the scene with Sir Patrick Stewart. You know the scene I mean.

It's genuinely bust-a-gut funny.

I agree Andy. Its been a while since I watched them. I especially like the episode with Daniel Radcliffe and Diana Rigg !

sp - The box set which I have has a second disc for each series with the outtakes, and of course RG is one of the best known corpsers in the business!

I agree Extras is brilliant, I also think the ones where Gervaise lived in an old folks home were brilliant too (have forgotten what it was called). That particular show often brought tears to my eyes. Yes, genius.
