accepting a job offer
I hope that someone can help me reaching a sound decision. Two weeks after applying for a job for a big company. I got a call from the company for an interview and a test. during the interview, the man was really nice and made me feel at ease. but when he gave me the test papers, he told me that not to worry, relax and do my best while very, very slightly tapping me on my shoulder. I really thought that this was disrespectfull of him to do that. It's a well paying job. Should I ignore that this happened, which I did at that time, and accept the job, or look for another one? I mean i really don't want to be hired based on this type of interview. Please can anyone give any idea what's the best thing to do. Thanks very much.

Some people are more naturally "touchers" than others and it can mean nothing although I agree, he probably shouldn't have done it.
If you do take the job and he comes on to you will you feel able to deal with it?
What "type" of interview do you mean? Apart from tpping your shoulder, you haven't said that anything else was amiss?
Agree with scarlett. If he was grabbing your norks and undressing you with his eyes etc then I imagine you wouldn't take the job.
Alas he sounds just a tactile gentleman. All that aside though, you have felt "bothered" enough to ask advice here. Follow your intuitions and good luck.
Remember if he ends up slapping your a55 you will get about 5 grand compo plus loss of earnings.
woofgang,
- I think I'll be working with him.
- He did not feel creepy to me. He looked like a high professional decent and educated, a bit stressed out.
- I'll be able to handle it assertively and hopefully put an end to it. but I didn't want it, in any way, to play a role in me accepting the job offer.
- "type of interview", I meant that, to me, that specific moment defined the whole interview, even though every thing else went decently. Thanks for your insight.
Scarlett,
- I don't know wether what he did is appropriat or not. this is where I lack some judgment. Is my feeling right or wrong. But according to my experience in work place, I feel that some men use it as a tool to have controle and power over a woman they don't like. But, in my case, to discourage me from accepting the job. May be he didn't like me, or we didn't connect.
- Thanks for reassuring me.
Ward-Minter,
- There's nothing wrong with being tactile. I'm sure that sex was the last thing on his mind. I'm only concerned about the gesture on the first interview. I don't know why I felt disrespected.
- about your third remark, I didn't understand it. it's Ok. Thanks for your insight.
EDDIE51,
I don't know why I felt disrespected. May be it's a woman thing. I hope that I'm not going too far with this. Thanks for reassuring me.
To All:
I appreciate all your ideas and reassurances. I'll keep all of it in mind. I'm calmer and less worried now.
There's one question that I have to ask though. It's that why all of you, wonderfull people, care about helping a complete stranger like me!!
