Has anyone experience of the above condition please?
Two days after a friend had her yearly eye check and was given a clean bill of health she developed a distortion in her vision.....wavy lines.
She returned to the optician she'd seen who then detected the problem but said it must have developed in the two days. Is this possible?
The optician made an urgent appointment at our hospital......after waiting for two weeks to hear it seems the appointment has got lost somewhere in the system.
My friend made an appointment at the private hospital and is to start having injections.
She has been stopped from driving immediately.
Does anyone have this condition, or know anything of the success of the injections...or any other treatment she may be offered?
I'm asking really because she's finding it difficult to take in and properly understand I think, and then keep me informed.
If she lets me I'll go to appointments with her but I'm not sure she will.
Thanks, Gx

True facts, Sqad.....something silly and minor happened a few weeks ago that made me, jokingly, question her eyesight.
As treatment is to start next week I guess the diagnosis is correct.
But as soon as she noticed the wavy lines she went straight back. She wasn't ignoring any problems hoping they'd go away....I did think two days was perhaps unlikely...x

Ooops! forgot that question.
Injections into the eye are the main first line treatments.
Will they improve her vision?.....they might.
Will they delay the progress of the disease?.....they might.

I was diagnosed with dry macular degeneration in
Dec. and was referred to have cataract removed as was now 'ready' and that they liked to do them sooner with AMD. I had cataract removed Feb 3, all fine, check up 4 weeks later all good. 2 weeks later I noticed wavy lines and smudge in central vision. Ophthalmologist said that it had progressed to wet, and I also have inflammation at back of eye, am now on steroid drops and awaiting appointment for next step. I thought this was fast and questioned was the operation the cause of this but was told NO. It's all quite worrying
