Friend had to do some online assessment for a job application. The email stated ONLY "You have until the 2nd July 2019, to complete all three tests."
He tried to do the assessment on that date but was told it was now closed. He later enquired and was told "The tests closed at 5pm on the 2nd and if you attempted to access them after this time or date then they will not be available to you,if you did not complete them then it will show this attempt as being unsuccessful and will have to wait for 6 months to reapply"
Surely , that can't be right ? "You have until the 2nd July 2019, to complete all three tests."- means till 2nd July 2019 23.59hrs ?

Perhaps just maybe your friend itj will be a bit of a learning curve, and next time he will get job application in on time.
Another thing he could do is send his CV to company with covering letter explaining why he would like to work for them and what he can offer them if future vacancies become available.

TonyV he left it late - because "he did not want to leave anything to chance and make sure he had everything covered" Obviously not in his case as he flunked at ignorance of a unknown-to-him 5pm deadline. He can reapply in 6 months .And go thru the whole procedure to.. get to that stage again..
OK best of luck to him then.
As a matter of interest, on what date did he get the e-mail telling him about the assessments?
I've always assumed that by a certain date, in this case 2nd July, it means before that date. If the 2nd July was the closing date, it would have been far better to have put "on or before xx:xx hours, 2nd July. It is not a good idea to leave things to the last minute.

Just as an update.Despite a 6 monthly intake my friend has called quits on applying again. He's lost all interest and says "it wasn't meant to be"
ok tali1 he might think again in 5 months?
in some ways, being rejected, for whatever reason, can clarify things and make you realise you didn't really want the job that much. But he might change his mind if indeed he does want to work there.
those of us wedded to the paper age
will recognise the closing time as 5 pm on the day advertised

people would commonly hand deliver until that time

cut offs are much sharper now, as some lee-way was allowed for late delivery of letters

Simple concepts as in "to" or "by" are now litigated by shyster lawyers and Europe's greatest jurists since Solon (c 580 BC).

Would not "submit your results by July 1st at the latest" solve the issue?

TonyV - no .However ,by chance he went to family event day and an organization he was interested in was there were recruiting.
