In the Express today is this announcement.
Arts Council England has decided to do away with the word "artist" and replace it with "creative practitioner"
Also "Art" is to be replaced with "creative Content"
There is no mention as to why they have done this.
Any ideas folks?

I think it's all about perception, especially when it comes to the educational side - my Grandson will soon be starting a Graphic Arts Course, a strand he is very good at.
However he also has to provide a broader portfolio of other media he has never dabbled in to show his willingness to learn the whole subject.
He is now relishing that.
Caran , 'nannying' would mean you'd get your knuckles rapped somehow if you called someone an artist.
