I feel so ill.
I have been taking high dose steroids, 5mg X 8 per day then reducing by 5mg per week over several weeks.
Got confused and ran out of tablets over a week ago.
Raided my COPD emergency pack for more.
Doctor rang me to sort out my mess.
Prescribing more.
Got to kick off again with 5mg X 4 for a week.
I take so many other meds I just got confused.
Keep getting waves of fatigue and having to go back to bed for an hour or two at a time.
Why?
Is it the Prednisolone?
I'm really depressed with it.
Find myself sobbing sometimes. Crazy, feel so messed up.
AB is a good help, hard to explain.
Got to try making fun of it all.
I really don't know is it my mind, or just the drugs?

It can affect the mood plus all your other ailments and the family issues - did you mention this to the GP on the phone?
Do you have a dossett box, theland? So that you can be clear which meds you need to take at which time, and can see whether you have or not?
I'm not convinced it is the prednisolone itself (but I'm not sure), as my son has to have it sometimes, and that doesn't seem to be a usual side effect. Are you already taking anything for depression and anxiety now?
Steroids can cause fatigue and weakness , get back on track and once you have warned down a bit see how you feel.

Am I Right ?
I'm not Wrong !
I take quite a lot of meds and it's so easy to run out without realising it.

Stay strong and try and stay positive x
Citalopram, depends on the dose really. It can be very mild in low doses. Please speak to your GP, and be completely honest... and see what they say. This is just as important as the steroids.
Steroids can also bring about psychosis. Be careful to make sure you are taking the correct dose and reducing as you should be. Can you make a calendar with days and doseage and cross off each evening before going to bed. What you are feeling is normal with the steroids. Happened to me. Most important not to miss or double up a dose. Keep well and take care
no it is not the steroids
they cause sleepless ness and excitement

you are back on the tapering dose so that is OK
if you go on feeling like this it is back to the GP

Thank you all.
Things clearer now.
You could also make a chart for all your meds with dosage and times, using different colours for clarity. Stick on the fridge

Johnny - You are right as usual :-)
You are not alone Theland. I have a lot of empathy with you. I am still in bed today after a panic attack and atrial fibrillation in the early hours. Can't remember whether I took my blood thinner this morning because I forgot to fill in the daily tablet box yesterday. So many health issues and now in self isolation!

All I can do is send cyber hugs and understanding x

Easy to do with all meds, Theland. I'm sure things will settle down once you get adjusted again. Not nice for you though..Keep going...xx
I use one of those little plastic pill dispensers. I make it up every two weeks or so.

I got confused a couple of weeks back and ended up taking Frankie's (cat) Prednisolone and he got my diabetic medication. We survived.

Like you I have several medical problems plus Manic Depression - it can be quite overwhelming.

Prednisolone can cause mood swings and ‘heavy legs’, been there done that, it’s awful.
Also, don’t forget your crohns in a flare up causes total crashing exhaustion all by itself.
I’m not surprised you’re feeling the way you are, including tearful. I wish you well.
I have a pill box from Boots and I put in my weekly pills, as I was forgetting whether I 'd taken them or not. But I still occasionally forget to take a pill sometimes and find it there when it's too late! So no system is foolproof I'm afraid. As for ordering, I tend to do it well in advance and always do it when I am refilling my pill box, which is once a week. Even that's not foolproof though, as I can miss something I need.
I hope you feel better soon Theland I really do. Having to worry about meds when you are so ill doesn't help. And some of your posts do make me laugh.

When I couldn't walk properly went to GP.
Did as I was told and took my clothes off.
He told me to get dressed again, and told me to go and get an eye test.
Asked him why, and he pointed out I had put both legs in the one side of my underpants :-)
