American Police Should Be Trained By Our Bobbies.
44 Answers
Having seen the shooting dead of a black man who ran away from an American Cop who was trying to arrest him for drink driving, (not the most heinous crime in the world), why is the first thought of an American cop faced with an escapee, is to shoot him dead?
I think our policemen should offer their services to the whole of America’s police force.

Their attitude towards policing is vastly different.
I was a trained police officer and for many years in the latter half of my service always carried a handgun and sometimes, when in cars,a Carbine. For a start I volunteered for the dept which I knew carried firearms as a matter of course. U.S. cops don't get the choice. My background was examined and judged to see if I was psychologically suited to be placed in a position to make life/death decisions. I was asked how my wife felt about me carrying firearms and perhaps being called to use them. I underwent extensive courses and used camera ranges and 'Hogan's Alley ranges to see who I judged worthy of eliminating or who was the goody/hostage.
The U.S. cops have been dealing with drugged up, messed up,boozed up, gun toting morons longer than law enforcement in this country existed. I don't feel I am experienced enough to tell them how they should deal with the different situations that arise on a daily basis in their country. I have drawn my weapon on several occasions, survived and didn't pull the trigger so I can live happily ever after and shoot my rifles to my hearts content at paper targets and go home to my loved ones after the only sport I am still fit enought to enjoy.
As they say in the States though. Any police officer in the UK who shot a fleeing suspect in the back and could not justify fear of their own life then their 'ass is grass'.

Is this the chap who grabbed one of the officers' tasers and pointed it at him?
Jeez, no wonder he got shot.
As for the other chappie, unnecessary force was used which culminated in his death but he was what he was, a druggie and violent criminal and thus the global feral uprising that followed was a disproportionate reaction.
Of course black lives matter but black people are more likely to commit serious crime and are more likely to resist arrest. They are certainly co-writers of their own misfortune.
