I don’t agree with this.
There are many people from many walks of life who have gone above and beyond for others during this pandemic.
//a special thank you from us for looking after the nation's children throughout the pandemic. //

All but a small minority of children have been at home throughout. The schools have been closed!
This is a bad idea, it will build resentment against a section of society who get more than enough of that just trying to do their jobs.
As a retired teacher I totally agree. To value one section of the workforce more highly than another under the same circumstances is divisive in the extreme.
Further, I would hope that any respectable teacher worthy of his salt would refuse to take advantage of this 'offer'.
Many occupations already have access to discounts schemes, these are just two I know of - no doubt there are more.

People from all walks of life are struggling just now, I agree it's not good practice to do this.
It’s not about valuing one section of the workforce, it’s about getting extra customers. Everyone and their granny already gave a discount to blue card workers now Morrison’s is using business tactics to target education workers in the run up to Christmas.
I think you're right, sher.
The problem is, it appears Morrisons is using an already under-fire profession to cynically up its profits.

If that's true, and obviously I don't know that it is, it stinks.

But whatever the reason, good or bad, it will have a further negative impact on society's view of teachers, and that they don't need at any time.
I agree 100% with a-h.
It’s every business’s main aim to up their profit so from that point of view you could say they’re doing a cracking job in finding new customers, I would think that most people aren’t shopping around at the moment, they’re happy with the systems in place where they shop or they’ve got a recurring delivery slot that they’re not giving up for anyone (I know I do). Yes, it’s cynical, but it’s good business.
I'm almost certain that national supermarket chains pay little attention to the musings on Answerbank.

Especially the ones not employed in ejicayshun who are jealous of the meagre savings available.
All that will happen is that there will be a small hike in prices so that those who do not qualify for such largesse will be subsidising others. One thing is for sure, Morrison's won't be out of pocket.
It isnt just for teachers, its for office staff, teachers assistants, janitors, technical assistants etc as well as nursery staff,
That hardly makes it OK.
What is so special about teachers anyway during this covid situation? The reason I ask this is because here in Ontario they have had a few months off with full pay and benefits. Is it not the same in the UK?
The use of the word ‘janitors’ is so irritating (not important, but still irritating).
Yes it is. There's nothing special about teachers and I am ashamed to be associated with this.
