abbey, you say that as if you are in a nightmare not of your own making, that you have no control over. You know that isn't true, you have got yourself in to this situation and you really should know that you ought to stick with your current employer for at least a year - you like the job and the people. You don't need colleagues to be friends - you seem to have enough of...

Get some stability in your life .

You've got a job you have just started .
Stay where you are and give it a chance

You have only just started your present job, don't you like it? If a was your employer I would not be too happy if you asked for time off already.

It's not that I don't like it just this closer to home and better hours.
Doing what? Does it have better opportunities than where you are now
You've not long started this job and you want to give your boss very short notice you want to come in late or go early?

If you can be flexible with your lunch breaks, and really want to go to that other place, would it not be better to take it so you can get there for one o'clock even if it meant getting a taxi there and back?

Abbey/There's a Gaelic word "bourach" and that's what you are getting into right now - a mess/shambles. There's no saying that this job you are applying for will be more to your liking than your present one ... if indeed you are offered the post. I think you once said you were in your early thirties - time to make your own decisions?
What will you wear?
Question Author
Margotester same as what I'm doing now.
Oh Gosh - no - why did you have to bring that up, Tilly ?:-)
Thing is Abbey, if you go to the interview and get the job do you think your present employer would give you a good reference?
I honestly don't see how you could ask your current employer for time off to go for an interview when you've only just started there! As said previously, stay where you are
If you keep job hopping then your CV is not going to look very good! Employers want people they can rely on (at least to some extent). If I was interviewing you with a CV showing lots of short time employment I don't think I would chance employing you.
How long does it take you to travel to your current job using 2 buses, and is this one 20 minutes walking or travelling up the road?
Question Author
That's right
What’s the job?
Question Author
Dental receptionist
If you get a full driving licence, will you be buying a car?
Question Author
Yes
Isn’t that what you’re doing now?
