We’re back from the first of our family holidays, went to Ile de Re in France and had a wonderful time, so wonderful I sunburned my nose!!
Looking forward to the next one in July in the UK, and then the August one in Scotland with the whole tribe…fourteen of us plus two dogs, good job we all enjoy each others company :)
And a very special weekend just for the two of us for the Edinburgh Tattoo preceded by a five course tasting menu with wine flight, just before the family get together. They’re such good kids and really look after us, we’re very lucky and appreciate them immensely.

Some of the family live in Scotland, and those that don’t (including us) just love it and have visited a fair few times, seriously considered moving there too. Never been to the Tattoo before and really looking forward to it, was glued to the tv last year watching it when it was on.
Hello Choux, nice to see you :) Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all jolly famous five all the time but the fact they all enjoy what’s become the annual get together says something. I think mozzie stuff will be the order of the day in August, and I don’t know about coming home relaxed, more like completely knackered what with four little people jumping into bed with us at 6am…(we love it really).
Wolf, we just like Scotland, rain or shine, never bad weather just the wrong clothes ;)

Be prepared vagus for tattoo as can be very cold. But you will enjoy absolutely marvellous displays. Enjoy your trip we have 6 neighbours in our group of 8 houses whom are English and they love it up here too. Houses spread over about a mile so no immediate next door neighbours but great community in the countryside.
Nice to hear you had a lovely holiday in France - you seem to have some good times lined up - good choice the Scottish Borders where I lived for many years - towns like Melrose, Kelso and Peebles still
have retained privately owned shops which is nice. Don't forget the wee hip flask when you go to the Tattoo - can get a bit chilly up at the castle. x

Our tickets are for the early performance on the Saturday, thanks for the reminder about taking something warm, and possibly a waterproof too.
We had an email to say they’ll be filming part of the audience during that performance and if we had any objections we could change to a different day. The family think we should get a couple of those big pointy finger hats so they can see us :o)
I always feel I can breath properly in Scotland, it’s a lovely part of the world.
