Anyone know how to find experienced retired self-employed private carers who may want to earn a bit extra looking after an elderly MiL for a few hours a day?
The best I can suggest is to start with small ads. in the local paper. it rather depends on where you live.
Here, smallish village (240 adults), we have an active facebook page where ads of this sort could be placed, also a village notice-board where jobbing gardeners/DIY help etc. can be found. Extra to that is the local church where serious announcements can be shared.
Explore the avenues local to you is my best advice.
Are you trying to find someone to provide care who is not officially employed as a carer? Your inclusion of 'retired' makes me think that. Trying to get care 'on the side', 'on the cheap' is not a good idea.
They will not be insured should anything go wrong, they will not be DBS checked. On the other hand, should they have an accident on the 'employers' premises the 'employer' could be liable.
Check out what benefits the person who needs care is entitled to. Make sure they are claiming everything they possibly can to help pay for any care they need.
