As it's Diwali, a coworker very kindly brought in some biscuits.  She’s very pushy, so I gratefully took a few, but decided to take them home (I have to watch what I eat as my doctor told me my cholesterol is too high).  My male colleague then asked me, "Why aren't you eating the biscuits?  Don’t worry you won’t put on any weight".  Well, I have never discussed my body shape with him or my eating habits – ever.  I told him, "It's nothing to do with you.  Don’t keep questioning me". He's only been in his job 6 weeks and already has made two judgements about my body shape; he said something last week.  I don’t know him from Adam!

Should I now raise this with my supervisor or just leave it until it happens next time (which I hope it won’t)?  He is a little quieter with me now.

I, personally, would ignore it for now. No point reacting to any perceived slight. It doesn't make for a happy lifestyle. But ìf it continues, and you continue to get upset, then sure, ask your boss (or whoever) if they could have a quiet word with them.

Just deal with it yourself, you don't need to raise these unthoughtful comments with your supervisor.

I don't see any judgement about your body shape in that comment.

It sounds like he's just trying to be chatty, to me. New to the workplace and he's trying to join in.

Dieting?

What difference would a couple of biscuits make to your cholesterol level? My guess would be none whatsoever.  Would it really hurt you to be sociable for a change instead of finding fault in everything other people say and do? Ever thought about changing jobs?

Of course, it hasn't helped that you were the only one not to need to wear one of those skeleton costumes to the company Halloween party 😁

Come on, do we get a smile ? 😉

You're far too sensitive (to imagined slights) - you don't have to be fat to attract comments about putting on weight (which is just a friendly conversational gesture, it doesn't even imply you are overweight now).

If you keep complaining there will be that horrible atmosphere in the office with everyone walking on eggshells for fear of offending you.  It doesn't make for a happy workplace.

P.S. I bet you're fun at parties.

Men tend to speak before switching their brain on.  It was just a chatty comment that you should have laughed off or said something witty in reply.

I have had comments about my size and the shape of my boobs (a new bra) from workmates.  I never take offence and usually laugh at the comment - because it is true.

Learn to relax and chill out - if you are getting upset at meaningless comments it will make each working day longer for you and the person involved.

This really takes the biscuit.
