Spend most of yesterday thinking it was Sunday lol, forgetting it was a bank holiday. Was a lovely day weather wise - did a bit in garden and then some work. Wasn't sure what to do for dinner as had done quite a bit of cooking over the prev 2 days so nipped to local shops and picked up a 'salmon wellington in puff pastry', with herby new pots and brocolli. Was absolutely delicious!!
Late last night remembered that Tuesdays is 'bin day' so put them out, but not sure if they will be emptied what with yesterday having been the BH, so we shall see this morn lol.
Meant to be pretty warm again here today so washing machine going on in a sec!

Morning smow, you sound bright and breezy today.

Did quite a lot of cutting back in garden.  I print off a calendar from local council web site, reminds me which bins are being collected on which week, but also the changes for any bank holidays.

Out to lunch today with friends, so no dinner to worry about tonight.

Morning Naomi - yep I'm not too bad, got so much to do today but hey ho lol. What's your plans today?

Morning ubasses - yes we get a council list in post with the dates but it's not always followed lol. I mean, where do they fit in all the houses they they didn't do on the BH? lol

Not much, smow.  I'm not too well at the moment - I've got what 'they're' calling the 100 day cough - so I'll probably be a bit of a couch potato today. I hope it doesn't really last 100 days.

Thats annoying, ours are very good, always come early morning, so have to remember to put them out the night before.  They collect on most Bank Holidays, think it is only Christmas we get a change. Never thought about how they catch up with the collections, you have me wondering now!

Ours are always at least one day late after bank holidays - sometimes two.

Oh that's not good about the cough naomi- MrSmow I'm convinced had that. He is never ever ill but developed this cough earlier in the year, wouldn't even go to the doctors but it did indeed take months to go, thought he was stuck with it at one point!

Morning Smow and everyone. It should be our bin day today but like Naomi its always a day later after BH. Hope you feel a bit better soon Naomi, lots of rest but do keep an eye on it incase you need antibiotics. Nowt happening here today, oh what an exciting life  I  lead.

Have a happy day y'all

Morning everyone. Our bins were emptied yesterday and apart from Xmas they stick to timetable. Overcast here so will probaly do indoor jobs, apart from a brief foray to the shops as haven't been since Thursday and milk is low.

Naomi please go and have your cough checked out. A neighbour had what she thought was an annoying niggling cough and it turns out she had pneumonia.

Morning from a grey west country. I'm out a bit later to lidl/aldi for a few bits.

My daughter had the '100 day cough'...Google told me it's actually whooping cough. She was quite unwell...coughing so bad she couldn't catch her breath, and she was vomiting. She started in March and was still coughing in late May. She had a brief course of antibiotics that didn't help a lot. Only time did.

Thanks all,  I'm not one for going to a doctor - even worse now I'm made to feel like a criminal for asking for a telephone appointment - so I'll see how it goes.  I haven't got to do anything I don't feel like doing so I can rest up.  My husband has had it and it's still lingering although nowhere near as bad as it was.  He was told it's Whooping Cough.  I thought only children get that but apparently not.  I'm pretty knackered actually.

Whooping cough aka the 100 day cough is rife at the moment, and very very contagious. It's actually a notifiable disease but I doubt many adults do report it.

Good morning Smow and all from a very blustery East Yorkshire.
Trying to get local council to pick up a fridge freezer, feel like I have been on the phone forever. I have it on speaker now so I can do odds and ends whilst I wait for them to answer.
Might pop out in garden and do a bit more cutting back - if this ruddy wind drops a bit that is.
Have a good day :)

Apparently pregnant women are offered a vaccine to protect the baby. But uptake is down since covid, hence the current increase in cases.

Indeed pasta, I believe uptake in a lot of vaccines has been down since covid for various reasons.

Thankfully our heavily pregnant daughter in law has had the vaccine with each pregnancy, and all our grandchildren are vaccinated with everything offered.

More information that I picked up was that the vaccine looses effectiveness...another reason why so many adults are catching it. Maybe the vaccine should be offered to all adults. I suppose cost is an issue.

Good afternoon all (out shopping/library this morning).

Sorry to hear about the cough naomi, I jhope it beats the 100-day forecast.

I had croup as a child which I thought was related, but Google says not. I believe I also had Whooping Cough jab as a child, although I note the wearing off warning above.

On a different subject, our stalwart bin men worked yesterday and called (as usual on a Monday).
