In 'Brexit the opera', (available on utube)  Jeremy is shown to be so busy with teenage radical politics that his exam grades suffered.

Is there any truth in this?

Not suffered so much that he couldn't parlay them into a cushy job for life.

I dislike the mans politics but he supports himslef, is worth a few bob and unlike the current incumbent in No10 at least is honest with his views.

As I consider he has been successful who cares what his grades were?

You should use whatever talents you've got. Not everyone excels academically.
