Am I missing something, overnight Russia fired hundreds of missiles into Ukraine but as Trump has said he intends ending the war very quickly, why doesn't Putin just sort of sit on his hands for about 5 weeks and then get pretty much what he wants.

I think he has to be seen to do something in retaliation to the use of long range missiles by Ukraine.

This is a response to sleepy Joe letting Ukraine use the american missiles. He probably will calm down a bit now though and wait for Trump to get his plates under the Cain.

Trump has said that the billions of dollars in support for Ukraine will stop, Zelensky says that without their missiles and help Ukraine will lose the war, so whatever you think the rights and wrongs of it is, as far as Putin is concerned its job's done, or am I missing something!

In any talks with Trump Putin will be adamant that a minimum Russia requires of the Ukraine is the Crimea which is the only warm-water port that Russia has in the winter when St Petersburg and Vladivostok are frozen solid.

Probably because it's clearly not all they want. So they push the "front line" forward. Gives more leverage.

Well looks like the perhaps the nightmare the innocent people in Lebanon have been living through may be ending, let's hope and pray for a end to the gaza nightmare soon, and may be even the Ukraine in the new year.

Trouble is the people who 'started it' are never the elderly and children getting killed, losing arms and legs, having no homes left, living on the streets with all their possessions in couple of bin bags. They not really interested in playing the blame game, just how they going to find food and shelter this winter.

Putin won't stop until he has the whole of Ukraine, irrespective of what phony peace deals may take place.

It looks likely that will ultimately be achieved as there will be no more US aid to Ukraine after January.

After that, Putin will start looking at his next target emboldened by having an ally in the Whitehouse.
