Shooting Guns

 Yesterday evening my son came over with my grandaughter for a few hours. The plan was to let my granddaughter ride her new bike at a local park and then feed the ducks with a loaf that I had just bought.

However,,,,

As my grandaughter was getting used to her new bike, we saw 3 lads with a gun shooting the ducks on the lake.

Quickly got my granddaughter back in the car and why my son was driving I got on the phone to the police to report that a gun was been used in a public place.

The lads then walked off and we followed while giving the police a commentary of where they/we were.

It was 15 minutes before we met up with a patrol car, by which time we had lost them (ally way, terraced houses)

 

Policeman & policewoman. Both recognised me and both said that they have arrested me in the past. Couldnt give a xxxx. Theres lads with a bloody gun around here. "We'll make some inquires"

 

Is this taking the proverbial?

15 minutes to respond to a report of a gun been fired when theres kids (my 3 yr old granddaughter) around and then just casually dismiss it.

Any ABers on here that are on my FB can see a little of the video footage that we got of the incident but the police just didnt seem bothered.

 

Maybe I should have typed some hurty, offensive words on the internet and then the plod would have responded sooner????

Anyway my son has been in contact with the local rag to see if they will publish the video footage online and get these scumbags named and shamed and hopefully arrested. He's due an interview with a reporter in around about an hour.

That is absolutely disgraceful nailedit.  Well done you for doing your best to sort it out.  What about telling your local newspaper?  Or will that then make you a target?

If I had of been on my own I would have challenged them. But I had my GD and son to think off.

When theres a gun doing the rounds, you just want ur family away from it PDQ

Good idea getting in touch with local paper. At least someone is doing something about it! It's so worrying to think these poor ducks could be injured or killed, or worse a child! People should be made aware. Well done to your son for going to the press.

Thing what maddens me is that Ive got video footage of these people. (As I said, ABers that are on my FB can see) But the police....after waiting 15 mins to actually show up...seemed more intersted that they both knew me and had arrested me in the past for been p122ed than the fact there were 3 lads close by with a gun killing things???

I wonder what their parents are going to think when they learn about it?  Do they know their children have guns? Do they care?  Poor ducks.

This is happening too often, kids round here have been shooting swans on the canal

Barry I remember in around the 1990's there were "foreighners" reported killing ducks and then lighting a fire and cooking and eating them.  I think it was in Hyde Park London.

There are still reports of Eastern Europeans killing Canadian geese and swans in parks and on the waterways. A goose was strangled/had its neck wrung  in a park in front of children a few weeks ago.

Of course they did   ...  you are the profile target. However they of course have " nooo idea" who the gun wielders were. Perhaps there are "cultural" considerations to be taken into account. Duck and other exotic wildfowl are traditional fare at this time of the year for some of our new and exciting citizens.  🦆🦢🦚🍗🦴

Please dont feed bread to ducks. It really isn't very good for them. Get some proper bird feed for them

The polis ought to taake your video seriously, nailed it. Give them a chance to assimilate and react.  My sister in France is having a 'similar' experience with having videoing squatters nicking stuff from their neighbour's building site......

Police probably don't care about dead birds at Xmas time, as nobody else cares. How many millions of turkeys are slaughtered hung up on conveyor-hooks? You have a bad reputation with your local police so why do you expect them to take you seriously?

Now if those lads had been throwing milk shake over somebody, then no doubt Plod would have them locked up.
