police photographers for scenes of crime- are they proffesional photographers?- are they part of the police force? -or both?- or of different employment status?- assumealso they would sign some confidentiality agrreement as they are in contact with vital evidence?

as for details they are not allowed to divulge anything to anybody

Depends... I am a Scenes of Crime Officer in Essex (and a police officer) but eventually half if not all Essex SOCO's will be civillian. (Like nearly every other force now.) Most forces SOCO's aren't just photographers, we also receive training in fingerprint and forensic evidence recovery on an initial 9 week residential course and attend everything from stolen cars to murders. I believe the Met are different, and have separate dedicated photographers, and so on. I'm happy to give you more info if you need it. Regards, Matt.
