I have been desperate for a job since summer last year. I will turn 16 in July this year but i really want to start working now. I am willing to work all day Saturday and Sunday and one day a week, preferably on a Thursday as it is late night closing. I live in Kingston but would be willing to travel to New Malden to work. Also does anybody know what the rate of pay is for somebody not yet 16 and is it likely that i'll get a job at this age?

under 16 employers can pretty much pay you anything but if you are working in a cafe or small shop expect to be paid between 3.00 and 4.00 an hour. Thats the going rate in our area anyway, not sure if itd be much different where you live. Its unlikely that any large chain store such as HMV, New Look, River Island etc would employ you until you're at least 16. You're better off trying small local shops

Happy job hunting!

Another place to seek work is garden centres if you have one near you. The gardening season usually perks up around Easter so they may want extra staff on the tills.
you can not "legally" work until you have received you NI Number and card, which is when you turn 16.
