When I work from home my boss insists on sending a sheet to all and sundry with a contact number on it for me. My home number is ex-directory and my mobile is personal. If I have a work provided email account and have access to it can they demand and publish my number?

Depends on the terms of the working-from-home agreement, I would have thought. If you need to be available quickly, I wouldn't think it unreasonable of yuor boss to expect you make yourself available on the phone. If people need to contact you, they need to know the number.

I'm sure there's people who aren't allowed to WFH, who would think this a small imposition.

He hasn't published your private mobile number has he? I would take exception to that.

Suggestions: You can get a service from BT (Callsign?) that assigns another number to your line, and it rings differently. Or get an 0870 (?) number; some are free, some you pay for, but you get money back from the call charges.

personally i would imagine if you have a phone line at work where people can contact you, then your boss would be right to demand that people can also contact you at home. If it bothers you that much, i suppose you could alwys get a cheap pay and go phone for people to ring you on. I agree with catso that it seems a small imposition

Thanks, the issue I have is that everyone leaves me voicemails about unimportant things and I have to pay to retrieve them.
lol well if you answer the phone when it rings then they don't have to leave voicemails! or get an answer machine on your landline
If you mean voicemail on your landline, if you are supposed to be contactable, then why aren't you just answering it?

Sometimes I don't answer cos I'm on the loo, or on the other phone or on my lunch. Don't worry, I've resolved the issue by turning my answerphone off!
