I am wondering if you have the right to ask for your CV back after you have given it to, say, a company or a recruitment agency? Would it be cheeky? Legal? I don't like the thought of my CV floating around the place, that's all,,,,,

Yes but why? By the time it's been passed around a company, copied etc etc it's probably in about 24 different places electronically or otherwise. What's in your CV that's so embarrasing?
Presumably you are either out of work, or looking to change jobs. In either case, I would have thought that the more people see your CV the more chance you have!!
Recruitment agencies will not pass on your CV without asking you first if you want your name put forward for a particular job
I think it comes under the Data Protection act in the UK. Personal information can only be kept 6 months and cannot be passed on or something. If you sent it unsolicited though there might be a difference. I don't know the exact details but it might be worthwhile asking at your local library or council.
