Help for Application Form - Max Working Hours

"Please indicate the maximum number of hours you can work each week:__________" Will this mean the max you are willing to work, or max you are legally allowed to work ?

'The Working Time Regulations came into effect in October 1998. The Regulations state that you cannot be required to work more than 48 hours per week averaged over a 17 week reference period unless you have completed an individual opt out agreement that this limit will not apply. Further information on the Regulations and the Opt Out Agreement will be provided at your induction.'

If this is for a jobcentre application the correct answer for the benefit forms is 40 hours a week which works out at 8 hours a day whatever time of day you expect to work.
If it involves working shifts you are entitled to breaks especially after working continuous for three days.Your employer still has to pay you overtime for Saturdays and Sundays in respect of this.It is mandatory for him to do this.
