What do the 3 R's stand for?

Reading, writing and arithmatic. Yeah, I know, only one of those starts with an 'R' when written, and only two start with an 'R' when written, or spoken, but for as long as education has been around, this has been the acronym for those subjects - it doesn't have to make sense!

What a lot this says for our so called present education system, unless someone is trying to be funny!

Reading, riting, rithmatic. Almost as bad as phonetics being spelt with ph instead of an f and dyslexia being such a difficult word to read especially if you have dyslexia!!!!

pity its not important in schools anymore, also grammar seem not to be taught any longer
