Is it just me or is Marketing simply the con of putting smaller things in bigger boxes...

Sure, some of it is just that ... huge boxes for tiny little perfume bottles etc. But, good marketing is a vital ingredient in the success of any product. Let's say you have invented a product. How do you go about getting it to your target audience? Marketing provides an essential link between product and purchaser. Along with good advertising, it enables the purchasers to find out about your product. If you don't have that ... you don't sell. Simple really.
