Ok, my job at the moment doesnt really contain a substantial amount of work - hence the reason im always online...

Anyway, do u think it's reasonable of me to ask my boss if i could take an online course in Journalism (nothing to do with our business) which i could work on when i have free time and am not busy....?

Its just coz i feel like im literally wasting hours of my life doing literally nothing.....

Whilst I think it's a good idea to do something like that, I doubt your boss would agree to you doing something totally unrelated to the job you are in whilst in work time.

After all, he would effectively by paying you while you train for another career and at the end of the course, there is no guarantee that you won't leave and go and work in journalism!

BUT i am only 21.... so do you really think he expects to be here forever??

A lot of the time i'm in the office on my own... maybe i should take the course without informing anyone....?
I trainined to be a journo 5 years ago. personally i dont think a home study course is the best way to go about it as a prerequisite for a job in journalism is shorthand which you cant learn without going to classes.

Are you just wanting to do the course for fun or are you going to use it for a career change?
